Have you ever heard of the saying “laughter is the best medicine”? Although you might think that it won’t really cure you, several studies have already backed this up.
However, it seems that Charlize Theron, an award-winning actress whose impressive works include “Mad Max,” “Arrested Development,” and “Snow White and the Huntsman,” begs to differ after she had to be admitted to the hospital after laughing too hard.
But before you go deciding to frown for life in fear of taking a trip to the emergency room, best hear first what caused the hospitalization.
The South African actress narrated during her guest stint at the “Late Night with Seth Meyers” to promote her latest film with Seth Rogen called “Long Shot,” that she and a few others decided to watch the 2006 movie “Borat” and halfway the film, she laughed too hard that her neck locked up because of a pre-existing injury, herniated disk.
As a result, an ambulance got to the place and had to take the 43-year-old to the hospital, where she stayed for five days.
You may note that this film, which stars Sacha Baron Cohen as the titular character who journeys across the country to find Pamela Anderson, was almost 15 years old – to which Charlize said she had never finished the movie. Maybe she’s not going to watch comedies sometime soon, eh?
Children Injuring Charlize
Apart from comedy films, Charlize also said her kids had given her body damages – unintentionally, of course. She has two children 7-year-old Jackson and 3-year-old August, and although they are too young to cause harm, they certainly can, especially while sleeping. The mother said she finds it shocking how much hurt they can cause her despite being little and narrated that their elbows become sharp knives as they carelessly turn when sleeping.
In one instance, the activist narrated how she woke up from a deep sleep crying from an unbearable pain on her head that was caused by the kids hitting her in their sleep. So just as she was on the bed hurt, the children were busy drooling and probably dreaming, a common scenario among parents.
Earlier this May, Charlize also shared a couple of things about her kids, saying for little ones who have limited knowledge of things, they can feel they are already “masters” of knowledge and sometimes she gets to feel the wrath of their being too smart.
One time, she was out appreciating the sunset and describing it as beautiful but August, er, the all-knowing August, corrected her and explained that it is rude to call the sun beautiful.
Apart from impressive yet eyebrow-raising explanations of her children, Charlize has also wondered where they picked up some skills. August has also learned Martial arts and one time, the actress caught the girl wrestling her assistant. The funny thing is, she didn’t know where the 3-year-old learned it from.
