If you pick up the Hollywood history book, you would be amazed at how careful actresses used to be when it came to having children, mostly because the entertainment industry was unkind to women who were mothers simply because they were not perceived as attractive for the screen as before they had any children.
However, and thankfully, as we entered the 21st century, this perception changed, and roles for women in the movies and TV shows no longer depended upon them looking a certain way. That, and also the fact that conversations around body positivity gained traction, which meant that people expanded their perception of what was beautiful and rightfully included aged women as well as those with children into the definition.
This is one of the reasons why women in the entertainment industry are no longer hesitant to have children, and that is why we get to read about a celebrity becoming pregnant almost every other day. This time, it’s the gorgeous Anne Hathaway who is expecting to welcome her second child into this world.
Making the Announcement
The actress chose Instagram as the official medium to reveal the big news, posting a picture of herself standing in front of a mirror with what appears to be a visible bump on her lower-belly, even though she is wearing a tank top that is not too fitted. Although The Dark Knight Rises actress did not state it outright in the caption that she was pregnant, she also did not make it a very challenging task to figure out what she meant.
In the caption, Hathaway simply clarified that the bump was not there because she was preparing for some film, and then she simply put a hashtag for the number 2, indicating that it was indeed a pregnancy since she already has a child. But then, she also discussed the challenging nature of her current pregnancy, outlining the obstacles that she, along with her husband, has had to face in order to conceive.
A Happy Family
Hathaway had gotten married to Adam Shulman back in September of 2012, and the pair had Jonathan Rosebanks, their son, back in March of 2016. According to Hathaway, when she was pregnant the first time around, she developed a habit of revealing false information about her pregnancy to all those who asked her for details.
For example, she would give an incorrect date for when the baby was expectedly due, or say she didn’t know the gender of the baby even though she did, and, according to Hathaway, she had become so good at lying like this that it proved to her that she was, in fact, a good liar.
Considering her struggles with conception, it’s easy to assume that the pair had probably been trying to get pregnant since the birth of their son. However, Hathaway went on record back in 2017 that the pair had been waiting for their firstborn to grow up a bit before bringing another child into this world.
