Have you heard about someone who lived over 100 years and wondered how they managed to survive for that long without succumbing to the deteriorating impact of aging? Well, you don’t have to keep wondering as a woman named Louise Signore, who is now 107 years of age, has revealed the secret behind staying alive for a long time: staying single.
While this idea may go against your entire belief system especially since living single and alone is perceived as a sad life, at least according to social standards, this woman firmly believes that living alone has been the reason why she has remained alive for over a century.
This goes against all the advice given by healthcare professionals as well, who recommend that people, in their old age, should be consuming a proper diet and indulging in regular exercise to maintain their health, because apparently all they need to be doing is breaking up from their significant others.
We would love to believe Signore’s assessment and conclude that remaining single is a gift we give to our future self in order to stay alive for a longer period of time, but it does sound a bit too good to be true, mostly because it might very well be possible that Signore possesses excellent genes which have allowed her to live a full life, which makes sense considering the fact that all of her sisters have also crossed 100 years of age and are still alive and well.
Perhaps there are other clues in Signore’s lifestyle which could be taken as a contributor to her long lifespan. For starters, Signore has always loved to dance, which is a factor she also recognizes as having helped her maintain good health even in old age.
When asked about the advice she could give to all of us, which would allow us to maintain such impeccable health and ultimately prolong our own lifespan, Signore said that both food as well as exercise needed to be a top priority for all of us, and also hitting the bed by 11 PM.
The Importance Of Food, Exercise, And Proper Sleep
There is a reason why you must have come across various articles on the internet, and perhaps even have been advised by your doctor, about the importance of controlling the food you consume, performing an adequate amount of exercise on a daily basis, and also getting the right amount of sleep.
These three factors are perhaps the most significant ones when it comes to determining the state of your health, especially in old age.
For example, if you are consuming an unhealthy diet and/or not exercising as regularly as you should, chances are that you would start accumulating fat and lose essential muscle definition as you age.
But perhaps even that is understood by most of us. What many of us don’t consider a matter of significance when it comes to maintaining proper health is our sleeping patterns. Many research studies have proven that getting adequate sleep at night is essential to our health, as that is when our body recovers from all the wear and tear it has accumulated during the day.
