A disease like cancer, which used to have no cure until a few years ago, is not selective when it comes to choosing its targets. You may not know this, but cancer exists within our body however in a dormant state, just waiting to be activated either on its own or due to some triggers connected to our habits.
Treating the disease is obviously very difficult for the patient, but it’s also stressful for the loved ones that are there for support and Taylor Swift can vouch for that fact.
Although Swift’s mother had been cured of her cancer, at the start of this year we discovered that her cancer had unfortunately relapsed and now she was seeking treatment yet again.
And now Swift has revealed what she has gone through and continues to endure with respect to her mother’s medical condition.
A Relapse
While providing insight into her life for the cover story of Vogue Magazine’s coveted September issue this year, Swift, who is now 29 years of age and has earned multiple Grammy awards to her name, revealed that her mother had indeed suffered from a relapse and her entire family is now coping with it.
According to Swift, the first time that her mother had been diagnosed was back in 2015, and the Love Story singer posted about in on her Tumblr handle, highlighting that the time was right to share the news with the public, especially her fans who obviously care very deeply about her emotional wellbeing.
She wrote in that post about the sadness this diagnosis had brought her, and the fact that she was going to keep the treatment plans as well as her mother’s condition away from the public eye.
Get Diagnosed
The reason why Swift shared her mother’s diagnosis with the world, according to Swift herself, was also highlighted in the Tumblr post.
According to her, she wanted everyone reading the post to encourage the people they loved to seek a diagnosis for the minutest of symptoms they may be facing, because that way an early diagnosis to this life-threatening condition would be possible, paving the way for better, more effective treatment.
That year, according to Swift, the Christmas gift that she had given to her mother was a medical check-up to determine any health issues she may have, even though there were absolutely no symptoms that demanded a diagnosis.
However, after her mother underwent the tests, it was discovered that she had cancer, a diagnosis that was obviously very unexpected for the entire family.
Her mother’s battle for the second time with cancer has obviously demanded Swift to be strong enough to take care of her family members in times of sickness, and she has adjusted to it considering that her father, too, has had to battle cancer at one point in time.
According to her, watching her parents’ struggle with such a serious disease has enabled her to differentiate between a serious problem and one that is trivial, and that is why the daily struggles of her life don’t upset her anymore.
