When it comes to the sport of golf, there are a few names which are recognized around the world for delivering exceptional performance on the court.
Tiger Woods is one of them, although the player has gone through terrible pains ever since 1994 because of golf, as that was the first time he suffered from a painful knee injury that required surgery.
After Woods had gotten a surgery done for his knee, it was being speculated that perhaps his golfing days were coming to an end. After all, for any athlete, having a body that is cooperative is essential to delivering a good performance during the game.
As time passed, Woods found it difficult to walk and sometimes even stand because of the condition of his knee, so naturally playing golf was becoming an increasingly difficult challenge for him. His children know it better than anyone, and that is why they are not too fond of their dad returning to the sport now.
Growing Up With Dad’s Pain
Woods now has two children, namely Sam, who is 12, and Charlie, who is 10. For them, their dad has been suffering from knee-related issues for as long as they can remember. Woods has had to get multiple knee surgeries after his first one, and also four surgeries for his back as well.
Most recently, he had to get a procedure done called the anterior lumbar interbody fusion, and this was performed back in 2017, allowing him to get rid of the pain that he had been enduring for a couple of decades now.
Due to the success of these procedures, Woods has been able to make a comeback to golf, although his performance may still need time to get back to the level when he was considered among the best in the sport. While he may be very excited to come back and play the sport, his children are not too happy, and Woods understands their perspective very well.
According to him, all his children have known is a dad who has been suffering from pain throughout their existence just because he played golf, and that is why they are now very concerned about his wellbeing.
Concerned Children
This does not mean that Sam and Charlie don’t support his move to make a comeback in the sport. In fact, they are also pretty excited. But, according to Woods, naturally, they have their guard up and are always concerned about Woods’ health after every game that he plays.
For them, this is the same sport which led Woods to suffer from so much pain that he became unable to move at one point in time, and so they don’t want him to push too hard and end up in the same state again.
But the children must have found some confidence in their dad’s health after Woods emerged victorious in the Masters Tournament held at Augusta this year. According to reports, they were with their father to celebrate his momentous victory.
