If you or someone you know is a smoker, chances are you have already become aware of the supposedly healthier alternative called vaping.
Ever since the technology of vaping has come into the picture, people who were smoking tobacco have shifted to vaping in order to cut down on some of its many harmful effects on human health. However, many reports of illnesses in the lungs connected to use of vape products have forced people to revisit their perception of vaping and whether it is as healthy as they think.
Unfortunately, healthcare professionals have not been able to figure out a single underlying factor which may highlight the vaping component that has been causing people to develop lung illnesses.
Naturally, they wanted to find out whether a particular device type, the drug used, or brand was responsible for causing problems in over 450 people around the US. But since they could not figure this out, it’s entirely possible that the practice of vaping itself is to be blamed.
The Investigation
According to both the CDC as well as the FDA, around 120 devices of vaping and their complementary substances are under scrutiny at this time, and although they have not been able to connect the illnesses with one or few of them, there is a possibility they may be able to do it in the future since the investigation is still in its early stages.
The patients who have developed lung problems used all kinds of vaping solutions, including those with nicotine or THC. There have been reports which have developed a connection between the Vitamin E acetate included in some vape products with the illnesses.
For now, the CDC has issued a warning whereby it is advising people to discontinue the use of vaping until they are able to find the source of the problem.
Still Healthier
However, even with such problems, vaping still stands as a healthier alternative to smoking tobacco, as it provides the required dose of nicotine without any harmful chemicals found in tobacco products.
But it is an alternative to smoking and not a healthy habit one may develop on its own, since it still has addictive and harmful chemicals that can cause health problems.
Considering the popularity being enjoyed by vaping products especially among young consumers who would probably have not smoked tobacco products at all, Michigan has become the first state to ban the sale of flavor vaping products as a move to discourage consumption among the younger people.
This move would naturally impact the sales of many famous vaping products that have become extremely popular around the country due to their stylistic appeal. Many of the newer devices come in an easy-to-carry packaging that is not only fashionable but also offers a very convenient way of consuming nicotine.
A few vaping products and brands have become very popular among high school students, which has caused many parents to become concerned about the presence of vaping products in schools.
