Psoriasis is a skin condition that does not discriminate or impact only those individuals who don’t take care of their skin. Take Kim Kardashian as an example.
There are perhaps only a few other people in the world who are as conscious about the way they look like the Kardashians, which is evident by the way they look absolutely flawless every time they step out into the spotlight.
However, you may not know this but Kim K has been managing psoriasis for a very long period of time, a fact the reality TV star has very openly discussed multiple times on her social media handles.
As per the National Psoriasis Foundation, among all the autoimmune diseases that affect people in the US, Psoriasis is the most common one with around 8 million affected people.
Managing Psoriasis Like Kim
Unfortunately, there is no way to cure psoriasis once and for all otherwise, we bet Kim would’ve been the first one to sign up for the treatment. However, ever since she revealed to the world back in 2011 that she was battling with it, she also started revealing the many ways she had tried that help her manage the condition.
For example, Kim posted on social media that she was trying herbal ointments or products that contained seaweed in them. She also talked about having switched to a diet that was low in acidity levels, and also smoothies that would work as a detox.
However, no matter how much you try to prevent another flare-up, you are still very likely to experience them. This fact finds evidence in a picture that Kim posted on her Instagram story that showed her face covered in red patches caused by psoriasis.
But, having said that, her flare-up was still very much under control, and so we are tempted to see the skincare routine she has been following that has helped her manage her condition so well.
The Products You Should Be Using
While there are many products that Kim has used over the years which we have silently adopted into our skincare regimen without asking too many questions, taking care of psoriasis demands more scrutiny. Back in 2017, Kim endorsed products that contained seaweed as a great solution to minimizing the impact of psoriasis on the skin.
According to Dr. Debra Jaliman, who is a dermatologist based in New York, there is truth in Kim’s seaweed claim as the substance has beneficial properties for the skin including hydration as well as anti-inflammation and anti-aging. These benefits derive from the plenty of amino acids as well as vitamins that are present in seaweed.
The other product Kim has endorsed is light treatment, something that can now be done at home thanks to portable light therapy products. According to Kim, her psoriasis went on the brink of extinction when she started using light therapy.
This claim, again, has been verified by Dr. Jaliman, according to whom the UVB phototherapy causes the multiplication of the affected skin cells to slow down, allowing the patient to experience reduced symptoms.
