Time and time again you’ll hear of a good Samaritan story that will make you believe in humanity once again. It is one of those tales that can instantly uplift your mood and make you want to be better and act nicer.
But, what is better than this? It is knowing that the act of kindness touches another person on a whole another level. Who’s a pro in doing this, you may ask? It’s none other than everyone’s favorite actor and more so an ordinary person Keanu Reeves.
Kind Deeds
For sure we love his tough assassin persona in his “John Wick” films, but the simple and unpretentious man behind the character is more than admired not only by his co-actors but by the public as well.
What’s nice about Keanu is that he doesn’t need to speak of his good deeds that have accumulated in the past years, those who met and encountered him, albeit through small chances, are the ones doing the talking for him.
The internet is filled with sweet accounts detailing short meetings between Keanu and his fans wherein it is obvious that the 54-year-old doesn’t see himself as a star.
But while we imagine his awesomeness couldn’t get any better, a fan recounted a story that happened way back 2001. James Dator, a writer from SBNation, took to Twitter to tell a very touching narrative about his experience with the acclaimed thespian.
Watching a Film
This happened in Sydney, Australia, and avid fans of Keanu would know that it was the time when he was filming for “The Matrix.” So, one fine Wednesday morning, the Canadian star decided to watch the film “From Hell,” which starred Johnny Depp, at a local movie theater where 16-year-old James was working.
The scene was very vivid for the writer, it seemed, as he was certain of what the actor was wearing – leather jacket, jeans, and an equestrian helmet.
It took James 30 seconds to stare past the hat, which he described as weird, to recognize the chiseled face – it was Keanu!
After realizing that he was about to come face to face with the man, the staff thought of a plan: tell the man that he was given an employee discount which will then make him sign a sheet, perhaps a fool-proof scheme if the customer wanted to save money. But it didn’t work for the actor, who the writer said got confused by the offer.
Getting an Autograph
Keanu explained that he doesn’t work there so he is not entitled to an employee discount, which meant the plan failed. James had no other choice but to charge the regular price and felt bad he didn’t get an autograph.
A few minutes later, the actor knocked on the door behind the staff and said he finally understood that he wanted his John Hancock and handed over a piece of paper with his signature. Apparently, the actor bought an ice cream cone just so he could sign the back of the receipt and give it to him.
