It has been more than a decade since the super-hit TV sitcom Friends concluded its final season, yet the stars of the show continue to command popularity around the world.
Matthew Perry, who performed the role of Chandler, one of the six leading characters on the show, appeared in all ten seasons which spanned over a period of around ten years.
However, after the show concluded, Perry has not been very successful as far as landing new roles is concerned.
And naturally, Perry does not seem to be doing so well, at least as far as his Twitter account has revealed. In the past, he has not been very secretive when it came to his health, telling his fans about his drug addiction and also his problems with consumption of alcohol.
Not too long ago, the actor had tweeted that he had to get his bowel repaired, which had caused him to stay in the hospital for around three months.
Getting Therapy?
Although Perry hadn’t revealed whether he was taking therapy, in February, he simply tweeted that he had been asked to leave a therapy session, leaving fans around the world speculating about his mental health condition and wondering whether the actor had relapsed into his addictions of either drugs or alcohol.
Perry has successfully rid himself of such addictions in the past. In an interview which he gave to ABC News just a year ago, Perry highlighted how he was open to the idea of assisting others who were struggling to get off addictive substances, considering he himself had battled addictions in the past and hence found himself to be experienced enough to offer help.
Within the same interview, it was also revealed by Perry that the drugs which he preferred were drinking as well as opiates, and although he tried to hide his addiction to these substances from the people around him including his co-stars on Friends, eventually everyone did find out.
Fans Are Reaching Out
People around the world have become very concerned about Perry’s mental health, and many Twitter users have poured messages of support on the social media platform.
While some fans have highlighted how the actor deserves all the happiness in the world considering how he has entertained them for so many years even during their tough times, others have used some of the lines his character Chandler spoke on Friends to encourage him to fight the urge to consume substances.
Thankfully, a follow-up tweet by Perry offered some reassurance to everyone, as he said that he was able to get back into therapy.
According to sources, a lot of credit for this could be attributed to his friends, including his co-stars on the show Friends, who have reportedly offered a lot of support to the actor and are helping him get back on track, including financial assistance to pay for any rehabilitation services he requires or also as a personal loan to help him regain control of his life.
