Learning of a family member’s ongoing illness and complications can sometimes take a toll on you, making it hard for you to do everyday tasks and to focus on your work.
That’s why it’s also important to constantly check yourself if you’re not losing your health along the way, which was what Britney Spears had done last month when she checked into a facility for a 30-day treatment following the stress that took a toll on her stemming from her father’s health issues.
Canceled Shows
According to several news sites, the pop singer’s dad has been battling an ongoing illness for a long time now and had recently undergone two surgeries, but he was not doing well.
Since January, when Britney announced she would not be releasing her album and would delay her Domination Las Vegas residency, she had been helping the Spears patriarch cope with the life-threatening colon disease.
One source said that the songstress and her father had been so close that she needed some time to take care of herself.
But, just a few weeks after she voluntarily entered the facility, malicious rumors started circulating that Britney was held against her will by her family. At one point, protesters hurried outside the City Hall in West Hollywood asking for her release.
There was even a #FreeBritney campaign on social media. But on April 24, the “Lucky” singer finally cleared the air and explained via Instagram that things got out of hand, so much so that there were death threats sent to her family and team.
Privacy
Britney encouraged her fans not to rely on everything they hear and read and blamed Sam Lutfi, her former manager, who she accused of writing the e-mails sent using a fake account that pretended to be her.
Lastly, she asked her supporters for privacy at this trying time. Her decision to step away from the limelight was supported by her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, mother Lynne Spears, and boyfriend Sam Asghari, who had spoken out in her defense.
Just a few days after Britney uploaded the video on social media, the 37-year-old reportedly checked out of the treatment facility, with Sam picking her up. The day after, TMZ said that as per their source, the “Circus” singer was a lot better than when she entered the facility, although doctors have yet to perfect her medication cocktail.
Not the Only One
Meanwhile, Britney is far from the first nor last of celebrities to admit that they are going through a tough time. Beyonce revealed in 2011 that she had to take some time off the spotlight to take care of her mental health as prodded by her mother.
The “Formation” singer admitted that things got fuzzy and there would be days when she was just at ceremonies thinking of her next performance. She visited and explored a lot of museums and even went to the Great Wall of China.
Lady Gaga is also one who admitted she had to pause and think about her welfare. In 2016 she revealed that the sudden takeoff of her career exhausted and traumatized her. She is also open when it comes to her battles with depression.
