There are many reasons why people become pregnant. For some, it is a decision to have children. For others, it happens accidentally, and they choose to either carry the child or abort the pregnancy.
But then there are some people who wish to have children yet cannot conceive simply because their biological makeup disallows it, for one or various reasons.
To resolve their issues, such people seek the help of medical professionals who offer a number of treatments aimed at promoting fertility, thereby increasing the chance of conception.
However, many of these treatments are very expensive and hence out of the reach of the masses, and that is why people around the world are looking for solutions which don’t require expensive procedures. And apparently, switching to a keto diet is one.
Helping With Fertility?
There are millions of testimonials available on the internet, claiming that the keto diet has done wonders for them as far as achieving their weight loss goals is concerned. Also, many research studies have also found the diet to reduce inflammation in the body as well postpone the impact of aging, while some have even said that the diet could help those who suffer from frequent headaches.
However, now another claim has surfaced on the internet which says that a keto diet has apparently also proved to be beneficial for a couple who were otherwise finding it difficult to conceive.
The revelation was made on Monday whereby a post surfaced on the website Reddit by a man who said his wife got pregnant after the two of them followed the diet for approximately three months.
According to the post, the couple had already given birth to their previous child via the IVF method and were all set to undergo the procedure yet again and have another one. But before they could do that, they found out about the pregnancy.
Naturally, they credited the one major lifestyle change they had made a few months ago, which had also helped them lose around 25 pounds, each, and that is switching to a keto diet.
Trying For Years
Apparently, it took them two years to become pregnant again, mostly because the man had issues with his fertility both in terms of count as well as quality. That is why they had to undergo IVF with their first pregnancy as well.
But now, according to the claim made by the post, since both of them had removed all the sugar from their diet, they were able to get pregnant again without any medical help.
Naturally, this post has caught the internet’s attention, but is there any truth to the claims made in it? Well, many other people have shared a similar experience after making the switch to a keto diet, but unfortunately, there is not enough scientific evidence to support any of it.
The evidence which does exist, such as a study published in 2017, did draw a connection between low-carb meals and improved fertility in women, but apart from that, doctors are of the opinion that perhaps it was a positive side effect of losing weight that has helped many people improved their fertility.
