There are many compelling reasons on the internet that can convince even the staunchest dairy consumers to reconsider their dietary habits.

From solving acne problems to encouraging weight loss, it seems like removing dairy from our diet is a great step towards achieving a healthy lifestyle. But are all these benefits really proven by science?

Dairy-based products are very popular around the world

One major reason why products that contain or have originated from milk have come under constant scrutiny by nutritionists is the fact that people tend to feel a bit bloated after their consumption, and this has been associated with the high-fat content that is present within the milk.

However, we must delve deeper and understand the impact that dairy products have on our body before reaching a conclusion about whether they are safe for human consumption, or not.

Ditching Dairy Helps In Losing Weight?

While you may be tempted to think that consuming high-fat milk products was the reason you have found it so difficult to shed those extra pounds, but in fact, research has proven that consuming dairy may actually support your weight loss journey.

This is because milk-based products have satiating fats, in addition to many other important vitamins and minerals, that allow you to feel fuller for a longer period of time, thereby encouraging the excess fat to burn in the process.

Perhaps the most popular dairy product consumed globally is cheese

In fact, drastically reducing your dairy consumption can even lead you to become deficient in iodine, which can even cause damage to your brain unless you choose to supplement it from other sources, such as sea vegetables.

Should You Be Drinking Milk?

But this does not mean that consuming dairy should be easy for everyone. In fact, many adults have reported feeling pain and a sensation of bloating every time they consume dairy products, and this has been explained by scientific research as a side effect of A1 beta-casein protein that is found in milk, in addition to problems which are caused by lactose.

However, there are many alternatives available in the market that have a modified structure which allows you to consume milk and its by-products without the fear of facing any problems otherwise caused by it.

What you need to look for is milk that contains the A2 beta-casein protein which is proven to go easy on your digestive system. Or, you can always opt for soy milk or milk that is produced from almonds.

If you can’t digest milk properly, perhaps shifting to an alternative like soy milk is a good idea

If you are one of those who don’t have an issue consuming milk or eating any milk-based products on a daily basis, then you don’t need to ditch dairy at all.

There are many benefits associated with dairy consumption, and if you are on a mission to lose weight, then dairy products need to become an integral part of your diet. Unless, of course, you have ethical reasons not to consume dairy, in which case it is highly recommended that you monitor your iodine, calcium, and vitamin D levels to ensure you are not becoming deficient in them, and take supplements accordingly.
