Trying To Get Healthy At 50? Simon Cowell Has Done It, And Here’s How!

Being overweight is never a good thing, whether it’s your appearance or physical and mental health. If you are carrying a weight that is above the recommended Body Mass Index (BMI) levels for your height and age, then you must reduce it enough to reach a point whereby you are in the optimal BMI range.

However, losing weight is not an easy feat at all, especially if you have crossed a certain age threshold. But, Simon Cowell, who is now 59 years of age, has somehow managed to lose around 20 pounds in the recent past, and thankfully, America’s Got Talent judge has shared his fitness secrets with all of us.

Simon Cowell is famous for acting as a judge on shows like American Idol and the Got Talent franchise.

Feeling Better

Of course, Cowell is very satisfied with his achievement and is loving the way he now looks, with a better-sculpted face and an overall leaner body. Even fans have noticed the stark difference in Cowell’s appearance over time, with many of them voicing their amazement on different social media platforms including Twitter at how quickly he has been able to completely transform himself even though he is about to approach 60 years of age.

But everyone was aware that Cowell had embarked upon a fitness journey back in 2017, as he had suffered a terrible accident that same year due to his improper health condition. Apparently, Cowell had passed out on a staircase and fallen, suffering injuries for which he had to seek emergency treatment. According to him, this episode led him to believe that he needed to make some very urgent changes to his health, and the first thing he did was completely modify his diet.

Cowell has shown impressive commitment to revamping his outlook on personal fitness and looks amazing for someone who is about to turn 60.

The Diet Change

All of us have some foods that we seek whenever we want to feel happy, such as pizza or ice cream, and for Cowell, this list included hamburgers as well as jam tarts. Obviously, in order to eat healthy, such foods must be avoided, and so Cowell cut them out from his diet altogether. Additionally, he opted to make more vegan choices with his meals, which meant that his diet now included lots of vegetables. However, according to him, he has not detached himself from meals that contain fish, at least for now, but he intends to do this as well soon and become completely vegan.

Another step which Cowell has taken to improve his diet is that he got himself tested for many allergies as well as intolerances he may have with respect to certain food groups, as having such problems means that certain food groups are not suitable for consumption. When all these tests were performed, Cowell discovered that red meat, sugar, and products containing gluten or dairy were not suitable for him.

A vegan diet usually avoids all foods which have anything to do with animals.

As far as fruits are concerned, although these are considered to be universally healthy, in order to lose weight Cowell made an effort to check fruits for the amount of sugar they contained and eats only those now which have low sugar compositions, because there are fruits with sugar levels higher than those found in some popular soda cans.
