In one of the saddest pieces of news we have come across in recent times, the global music icon Ed Sheeran lost someone very close to him, his cat Graham after the latter was killed due to a car accident.
Sheeran fans are well aware of Graham, as the cat has often been featured on his social media accounts, and are obviously very saddened by his loss.
The 28-year-old singer is obviously mourning the loss as well and posted about Graham on his Instagram with a picture of the cat that was captioned simply with the emoticon symbolizing a heart that is broken, signifying how heartbroken the cat’s death had left him.
His followers flooded in to offer support to the singer, commenting condolences in an effort to help the musician with his loss.
A Lovely Cat
According to sources close to Sheeran, the cat Graham had a wonderful personality that had the right combination of funny as well as cleverness. Graham was also reportedly very close to a German shepherd, and generally very positive energy to be around at all times.
That is why it would be very difficult for Sheeran to find a replacement for Graham, if not impossible. According to reports, Sheeran had not been looking for a cat when he rescued Graham back in 2014.
Since he was traveling a lot, Sheeran would often leave Graham with his friends to save him all the hassle of traveling. Although Graham is not the only cat which Sheeran owns, as he also has two more cats together with Cherry Seaborn, his wife, there is no filling the void that has been left by Graham in his heart, that’s for sure.
A Record-Breaking Tour
But not all is bad in Sheeran’s life. The singer recently broke records with his Divide tour, being on the road for an impressive 893 days compared to the previous record-holder U2 that had been on tour for 760 days.
Although on average, the singer has not been able to pull in crowds as big as U2, which averaged around 66K people per show compared with Sheeran’s average of 34.5K, the Divide tour has still been incredible.
Sheeran is also doing exceptionally well at the album charts in the UK, with his album titled No.6 Collaborations Project reigning at the top spot for a third week in a row.
One of the reasons behind this album’s success is probably the fact that Sheeran collaborated with globally-famous musicians like Justin Bieber and Eminem in some of the songs.
Back in July, the singer had been crowned by Spotify for having the most number of listeners in a single month on the music streaming service.
The total number of Ed Sheeran music listeners on the service was around 69 million, the highest Spotify has seen for a single artist in a single month in the history of the platform. That is a very massive win for an artist who is only 28 years of age but makes sense considering his latest album release.
