Discovering a talent, making a star out of an ordinary person, and giving unsolicited and harsh comments – these are the things you can read in Simon Cowell’s resume.
Now, you can pretty much tie him to be the poster boy for veganism after he showed how effective the diet can be. “America’s Got Talent” fans would be surprised to see an obviously slimmer judge after he claims he had shed about 20 pounds after his lifestyle conversion.
‘Vampire’ Lifestyle
Simon announced his drastic lifestyle change after a hard fall in his stairs in October 2017 after losing consciousness, which he later revealed was because of low blood pressure.
At the time, the 59-year-old Brit compared his unhealthy way of living to a vampire, wherein he would stay up until 8 a.m., but then the accident became a wake-up call.
A doctor then told the celebrity that he has a lot of food allergy, which then prompted the tough-talker to overhaul his lifestyle.
Those that he cut out of his diet were wheat, sugar, dairy, and meat and as for the cigarettes and beer, he said he only consume these occasionally. Simon has been known to love tasty food, from jam tarts to burgers, to Bolognese, but changing his lifestyle dramatically wasn’t as hard as he expected it.
Veganism
Simon narrated he used to have yogurt in the morning, but after going vegan, he replaced it with almond-milk yogurts. According to The Vegan Society, veganism involves a plant-based diet and avoids the use of materials that are animal-derived and were tested on the animals.
This means that vegan can only eat fruits and vegetables, but for the father of one, he doesn’t eat all fruits because he believes some of these have more sugar than a Coke.
He also doesn’t eat melons since Simon is allergic to them. The transition from one lifestyle to another may require months of adjustment, and in this case, if you’re used to eating meat, it may be hard for your body to get used to it.
But for the star, once he understood the pattern, he found the diet enjoyable and even claimed that he noticed differences in just a week after embracing the diet.
Bad Craving
Although he only has wonderful words for veganism, that doesn’t mean Simon has not had cravings. What he does find really hard to resist is pizza, but still, the Italian food is not enough to make him skip his diet even on cheat days.
One time, he recalled, he ordered pizza for Eric, his five-year-old son, and stared at the thing for three minutes. As for his partner Lauren Silverman, Simon said she has been supportive and considerate of his lifestyle change.
